Ages 5–11: This is the ideal age range for orthodontic evaluation and oral health screening for children (according to the American Dental Association – ADA).
Oral screenings help detect early dental abnormalities such as extra teeth, missing teeth, insufficient space for tooth eruption, narrow arches, excessive or insufficient jaw development, and harmful habits like lip sucking or tongue thrusting.
During this stage, children are transitioning from primary (baby) teeth to permanent teeth. The teeth and jawbones are still developing, making them easier to guide and correct—especially jaw alignment.
